When it comes to animation, blender packs a powerful punch. Especially with its 2D animation capabilities called grease pencil. I've tried going full traditional, it simply won't work out because I hit a road block eventually. And I don't like the idea of full digital either. So instead I should utilize a mixture of the two, tradigital if you would, as a compromise. Do majority of it on paper and finalize it on the computer. I think that will work out smoother than going one side or the other.

Well guess what, fuck the mafia. They can talk to me via telekinetic messages mentally. Just like how they sabotage source code and distribution. I don't know what else to say, the other guy won't stop annoying me.

I've spent too long arguing with them. They told me I should make this blog post, so I did. I'm going to treat them like a friend, not an enemy. Sometimes they don't communicate directly, they have a sign language like way of speaking to me.

This isn't because I think digital art is bad or inferior. Nonsense. I find it to be very good. I'm personally just tired of the waiting game, as in waiting for new features to make animation better or more convenient in various animation programs like blender, so to hell with that, I'll just get used to doing art or animation traditionally.

GIMP I find to be pretty cool. It's not as extensive as photoshop is, but it actually works better on my toaster of a chromebook (Yes I use a chromebook, but I have debian installed on it), so I might often use GIMP instead of krita for digital painting if I'm using a low spec machine because GIMP I find takes up less resources than krita does. I don't wish to compare the two together, I just like GIMP as well. Krita is still a very good program. It depends on what you want to do with it. Krita has more blending options so if you want some specific art look, krita might be more suitable.

I think the MyPaint brush set might be my favorite brush set. It has just about everything you need for digital painting. No need to hunt down 10 different brush packs to get what you want when MyPaint does it all. Also being a library as well, it's integrated into GIMP when installed and is available for other programs like krita or OpenToonz/Tahoma2D. Speaking of OT or T2D, I find it to be a great program packed with features. And it uses primarily the MyPaint brushes, which is a plus in my opnion.

I can use the tools to make something look like it was done in a vector program like inkscape or adobe animate. I can mimic easily the look of old-school flash cartoons. Add that to the list of things to try out with animation.

It was done using just the basic brushes, but it looks flash like. It's awesome.

Krita needs some love too. It's perfect for traditional animation look. I've thought about it, and will decide on either krita or blender depending on what style I want to aim for. Makes things easier to make what I want.

Blender, the free software animation program, has blown me away. I'm definitely going to use it for animation because it can do both 2D AND 3D, has built in compositing (VFX), can import scanned images or backgrounds made in say krita, and even has a built in non lineaar video editor. It's an awesome tool with a steep learning curve. And I can utilize it with other programs like a raster drawing program like krita or GIMP to do backgrounds that are more traditional animation like and do the rest of the animation in blender. This is going to be so sweet.
